Trust wallet is most popular cryptocurrency wallet. But there is no official way to extract private key and while officials at Trust wallet would argue that passphrase is more secure way, there could be plenty of reasons why someone would want access to private key of the address where the funds are stored. So, for this, we would need a tool that converts passphrase to addresses.

Here are the steps for extracting private key from Trust Wallet.

  1. Go to https://iancoleman.io/bip39/. There are plethora of websites to steal your private keys.
  2. If you think, your computer is infected, save the webpage given in step 1 and run it on a computer with fresh installation and no internet.
  3. Enter your Trust wallet seed phrase. Trust Wallet seed phrase can have 12, 18 or 24 words. Select that from the drop down as well.
  4. Now, select the coin from the drop down menu. In this case, we select BTC – Bitcoin.
  5. Scroll down, from the deviation path, select the tab that says BIP44. Scroll further down and you will find your main Bitcoin address that have been using on your Trust wallet.
  6. The Private key of the respective address can be found as well. Do not, under any circumstances, share this private key. It is like a password and anyone who has it, has complete control over your funds.
  7. If you hover over the private key, you will also see its QR code that can be scanned using any mobile wallet. Again, do not share this QR code. Share the address, not the private key or its QR code.

In case, you do not find funds, make sure to send your bitcoin or cryptocurrency in question to your own address. Then you try the aforementioned steps again.
