Twitter removes support for bitcoin emojis and more: #bitcoin, #btc, #bnb, #binance affected
Elon Musk’s X has suddenly removed all the emojis. This move has come all of a sudden and has left crypto twitter community puzzled.
This includes all the hashtag emojis that include #bitcoin, #btc, #bnb, #binance, #fifa and so on. This means this change is not specific to cryptocurrency and bitcoin but to all hashtag emojis.
So, while some news outlets are saying that Elon is now anti-crypto or anti-bitcoin, that is not at all true. All support for emojis has been removed – just not the crypto ones. We did not make the title clickbait like those outlets though.
In other words, it is not a conspiracy or a knock on bitcoin or cryptocurrency community. He did say few days back that X, formerly known as twitter was getting rid of all the hashtag emojis.
Previously, anyone could purchase a hashtag emoji like CZ did for Binance. X also gave away free emojis during FIFA and other sporting events.
On the bright side, Bitcoin’s official unicode has been submitted to ASCII Unicode, but it is still in pending state. Some might argue that bitcoin needs a proper symbol like $ sign. May be that will come as when Bitcoin becomes more popular as is actually used as currency by many.
