Coinbase plans to add Cardano (ADA), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Zcash (ZEC) and 0x (ZRX)
Coinbase just announced on their plan with intention to add four new coins to their website. This includes Cardano (ADA), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Zcash (ZEC) and 0x (ZRX). Also, for Zcash, only t-addresses will be supported which are not used for private transactions.
BAT and 0X are ERC20 tokens that run on Ethereum blockchain. While we had anticipated that both of these tokens will be added to coinbase, we were totally surprised to see OmiseGO not on this list. However, these two are simply first of the many ERC20 assets to make to the Coinbase.
Unlike Ethereum Classic, which is technically similar to Ethereum, these assets require additional work that necessitates contact with many external parties. To ensure that this news comes to you directly from us, we are publicly announcing our intentions.
Coinbase team has also confirmed on their blog that Ethereum Classic will be definitely added to the exchange. There was no confirmation earlier.
Please note that Coinbase is not guaranteeing the listing of any of these assets. They may list them with partial support, or only in specific jurisdictions. In particular, some assets may become available in other countries before the US.
Customers may see public-facing APIs and other signs that Coinbase is conducting engineering work to support these new assets. Coinbase will provide updates to the public about the process and what they can expect via the Coinbase blog and Twitter.
